Convocation to Celebrate Traditions, New Chapters and Global Community
The ACC seal was a beacon for the thousands of attendees who took part in ACC.22 over the last three days. See you next year in New Orleans for ACC.23 Together with the World Congress of Cardiology from March 4-6, 2023.

Today's Convocation ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. ET will close out ACC.22 by recognizing the College's global partners, celebrating the many accomplishments of ACC members around the world and welcoming new Fellows and Associates to the ACC family. It will also mark the transition to the next ACC president.
Presided over by outgoing ACC President Dipti Itchhaporia, MD, FACC, the annual event will usher more than 800 new Fellows and Associates into the College and honor the mentors, educators and scientists who make up this year's Distinguished Award winners.
The ACC's global cardiovascular society partners and recipients of the 2022 ACC/ABC Merck Research Fellowships, the ACC/ABC Bristol Myers Squibb Research Fellowship Awards, and the Hani Najm Global Scholar Award Observership Program will also be recognized, along with the 2022 Young Investigator Award winners, who will be announced live.
"Convocation exists to recognize the incredible accomplishments of cardiovascular professionals from around the world and across the care team for their commitment to the highest quality cardiovascular care and to welcome new Fellows and Associates into the College," said ACC President Dipti Itchhaporia, MD, FACC. "It is also an important opportunity to recognize and thank our global cardiovascular partners, who are so vital to our Mission. The fact that so many of us are here in person after two years of virtual ceremonies is even more reason to celebrate."
The 71st Annual Convocation Ceremony will take place today starting at 4 p.m. ET in the Main Tent. It will also be streamed live on the ACC.22 Virtual site.

Following the formal reading and acceptance of the FACC and AACC oaths, the time-honored event will also mark the official installation of new ACC leaders, including the College's new president. Today, Itchhaporia will pass the presidential chain to Edward T. A. Fry, MD, FACC, an interventional and general cardiologist at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indiana. Fry has served the College in many roles, including as past president and governor of ACC's Indiana Chapter and on the Board of Managers for MedAxiom.
"Convocation offers a unique chance for the cardiovascular community to offer our collective congratulations and best wishes for a bright, healthy and prosperous future to incoming Fellows and Associates," said Fry. "There is much to be done and I'm excited about the opportunities to work together over the next year to accomplish great things."

For more than 40 years, the ACC has partnered with Merck to provide research fellowship awards. This year's ACC/ABC Merck Research Fellowship Awardees – Brian Palmisano, MD, PhD, Victoria Thomas, MD, and Zainab Mahmoud, MD – will be recognized during today's Convocation ceremony. Recipients of the new ACC/ABC Bristol Myers Squibb Research Fellowship Awards (Debra Dixon, MD, MS, Jonathan Cunningham, MD, MPH, Kemar Brown, MD, and Krishna Pundi, MD) will also be recognized.
