New CardioSmart SVT Tools

Episodes of a racing heartbeat can be unsettling, yet many patients dismiss symptoms of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), especially when episodes are brief or intermittent. ACC’s CardioSmart has developed new resources, including an infographic and handout, to help patients recognize common signs and symptoms, understand diagnostic and treatment options, and feel more confident discussing concerns with their care team.

The new patient infographic is designed for use in waiting rooms, exam rooms, or as a take-home resource to help patients recognize symptoms, speak up about possible arrhythmias and learn more about available treatment options.

The patient handout provides clear, health-literate information about common symptoms, diagnostic testing and treatment approaches, including vagal maneuvers, medications and catheter ablation. It also encourages symptom tracking and includes suggested questions patients can ask their care team to support more informed conversations about symptom burden and treatment options.
