Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) Initiative

The ACC Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) Initiative is a global effort to transform cardiovascular care by focusing on outcomes and cost—rather than volume alone. This Initiative aims to equip clinicians and health systems with the real-world data needed to deliver high-value care.

Aortic stenosis (AS), the most common valvular heart disease, presents a growing global burden. As transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures rise, understanding their true value—through outcomes, patient experience, and resource use across full care cycles—is essential. Through the support of the Assembly of International Governors and the Value Based Health Care Work Group, ACC has launched a TAVR VBHC data collection effort across international sites. By analyzing variations in practice, outcomes, and costs, the initiative will identify opportunities to improve value for patients and health systems worldwide.

Participating centers and registries will contribute data via a standardized electronic form, helping pave the way for future VBHC implementation in cardiovascular care.
