Heart House Roundtables: Cardiovascular Clinical Research in the COVID-19 Era

With the outbreak of COVID-19, many outpatient clinics and facilities find themselves not prepared for regular telehealth visits. The health care establishment has scrambled to establish screening protocols, cancel elective medical care, and plan for urgent and critically ill individuals. Clinical acumen will guide who is high-risk and needs to avoid exposure, and which at-risk patients need evaluation. The goal of this Roundtable is to gain a better understanding of the challenges, needs and actions required to effectively manage cardiovascular patients remotely. Discussions at the meeting focus on telehealth practices for the management of patients with heart failure and secondary prevention of high-risk patients with ASCVD as well as identify ways the ACC can work towards supporting a high-value telehealth strategy for the cardiovascular community, extending beyond COVID-19.
