The JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology July issue will be the first issue under new Editor-in-Chief Kalyanam Shivkumar, MD, PhD, FACC, a physician scientist and director of the UCLA Cardiac Arrhythmia Center. Under his editorship, the journal will introduce brand-new features emphasizing innovations in clinical electrophysiology and a bi-monthly podcast series of interviews with distinguished scientists in the field.

In the July issue Editor’s Page, Shivkumar highlights the novel sections that will be added to the journal, including “Innovations in Clinical Electrophysiology” and “Innovations in Basic/Translational Electrophysiology,” which will provide a unique forum to present cutting edge ideas. He also goes over the new components for trainees with a special article type “Global EP Rounds,” which will feature cell to bedside discussions by key international investigators about how scientific advances are applied to patient care.

The inaugural podcast series, “Conversations with Legends in Cardiac Electrophysiology”, features an exclusive interview with Douglas P. Zipes, MD, MACC, a distinguished consulting editor of JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology and one of the leading physician-scientists in clinical electrophysiology. During the podcast, Zipes discusses what drew him to cardiology and clinical electrophysiology, provides advice for junior trainees and talks about the challenges that lie ahead in the clinical electrophysiology field.

Launched in 2015, JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology is a unique monthly subspecialty journal encompassing all aspects of the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
