The American College of Cardiology will recognize two early career cardiologists with the Hani Najm Global Scholar Award at ACC's Annual Scientific Session (ACC.26), taking place March 28 – 30, 2026, in New Orleans.

The Hani Najm Global Scholar Award has been awarded annually since 2022. It aims to foster the sharing of knowledge between international cardiology professionals and provide early career cardiologists residing in low- to middle-income countries the opportunity to elevate their training. Recipients participate in the ACC Annual Scientific Session and complete an Observership Program in the U.S.

“I am honored to sponsor this award and support its mission,” said Hani K. Najm, MD, MSc, FACC. “The sharing of knowledge between international clinicians is crucial to combat the impact of cardiovascular disease worldwide, and this program gives the next generation of cardiologists the tools they need to improve heart health for all. Congratulations to this year’s awardees.”

This year’s winners are:

  • Ivana Purnama Dewi, Bethesda Hospital, Yogyakarta, Indonesia
  • Mohammed Mosaad Elzalaawy, National Guard Hospital Riyadh, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Najm, a world renowned cardiologist and Saudi native, is incoming vice president of the ACC, a member of the ACC Board of Trustees and past chair of the ACC’s Assembly of International Governors.
