From diagnosis to management, learn how to recognize pulmonary embolism (PE), assess risk and determine the right next steps for your patients.

Hosted by ACC's Vascular Disease Member Section, part one of the four-part Vascular Essentials For Cardiology Practice webinar series will focus on the recognition and management of PE, a common and potentially serious condition encountered across cardiovascular practice. Clinicians often face challenges in suspecting PE, assessing risk, determining appropriate management strategies, and identifying when escalation of care or specialty involvement is needed.

Through case-based discussions and expert insights, participants will review practical approaches to recognizing common and less obvious presentations of PE, applying risk assessment principles, initiating appropriate treatment strategies and determining when multidisciplinary consultation is warranted. This session will provide clinicians with practical guidance to support timely and effective decision-making in the evaluation and management of patients with suspected or confirmed PE.

Key Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

1. Recognize common and less obvious presentations of PE.
2. Apply risk assessment principles to guide decisions regarding outpatient vs. inpatient management.
3. Initiate appropriate early treatment strategies, including anticoagulation when indicated.
4. Identify situations that require escalation of care or multidisciplinary consultation.
