ACC Quality Summit Examines Evolving Technology, Celebrates Quality Achievements
Supplying clinicians spanning the entire cardiovascular care team with the tools, resources and insights needed to design, lead and achieve the highest quality care at their institutions is the focus of ACC Quality Summit 2024, kicking off Sept. 17 in San Antonio, TX.
At the Summit, attendees will gain NCDR-specific knowledge along with a deeper understanding of the value of accreditation and ways patient data can drive process improvement initiatives. Through networking, interactive workshops, abstract presentations and more, participants will leave the conference with best practices and a range of tools and techniques to improve health care quality at their respective institutions.
Chaired by Olivia N. Gilbert, MD, MSc, FACC, ACC Quality Summit 2024 boasts nearly 40 educational sessions focused on the latest health care quality tools and techniques. This year's lineup includes several interactive sessions designed to inspire the implementation of real-world solutions through collaboration and mentorship.
"This year's meeting is chock full of information relevant to all cardiovascular team members involved in quality, administration and team management," says Gilbert. "Attendees will gain actionable insights, meaningful connections and hands-on knowledge that they can apply to enhance health care quality in their own organizations."
ACC Chief Innovation Officer Ami B. Bhatt, MD, FACC, will open the Summit as this year's Ralph G. Brindis Keynote speaker. Her address will delve into the real-world application of collaborative intelligence and potential impacts on cardiovascular quality insights. She will also touch on how artificial intelligence can enable cardiovascular technology to be more effective and user friendly, and how technology can improve the delivery of guideline-directed medical therapy.
Additional general sessions will provide insights into hot topics such as best practices in mortality review, improving transparency through public reporting, quality improvement as a career path and more.
NCDR-specific tracks set out to explore topics such as best practices for understanding left atrial appendage occlusion procedures and associated data elements, mitigating acute kidney injury following PCI, key takeaways from the 2023 Atrial Fibrillation Guideline, a deep dive into transcatheter valve therapy data elements and more.
Other tracks include sessions for those interested in accreditation, including a sneak peek at the new Chest Pain Center Accreditation model and an abstract session focusing on quality improvement initiatives informed by the accreditation process. In addition, the leadership track will cover issues such as using NCDR data in physician contracts, operational considerations for hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers, and driving interventional and electrophysiology quality growth.
Beyond the education sessions, the ACC Quality Summit is an opportunity for quality professionals to connect, learn from each other's experiences and celebrate quality improvement successes. Summit attendees can meet fellow health care professionals at this year's official networking event, access the latest data abstraction solutions at the Summit Showcase and examine more than 100 ePosters on display.
"ACC Quality Summit is a vital gathering for the quality improvement community," says Gilbert. "It's where we share ideas, learn from each other and drive real improvements in patient care."
