Don't Miss NCDR Research at ACC.26

Several abstracts will present findings informed by NCDR data at ACC.26, taking place March 28-30 in New Orleans. Don't miss the presentations listed below and search for these sessions in the ACC.26 Program Planner for additional details.

Saturday, March 28

1055-05 | Estimating the Real-World Treatment Effect of MitraClip in Secondary MR: A Transportability Study of the COAPT Trial
2:12 - 2:19 p.m.
Moderated Poster Theater 08, Posters, Hall E

Including 15,275 patients from the STS/ACC TVT Registry, Christina Lalani, MD, et al., found that "despite differences in characteristics between the COAPT trial and a real-world sample, the estimated treatment benefit for [mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair] would be similar if the trial had enrolled patients like those in the real-world."

905-06 | An APRN-Led Model For CV Quality Improvement: Integrating NCDR Data For High-Reliability Care
3:46 - 3:54 p.m.
Highlighted Original Research Stage, Posters, Hall E

This abstract, presented by Jennifer Heck-Kanellidis, DNP, AACC, outlines a model used by Hackensack Meridian Health that employs Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to drive high performance in NCDR metrics. In addition to maintaining high performance in acute coronary syndrome and contributing to the site's HeartCARE Center designation, this model "improved quality, reduced admissions and length of stay, and positively impacted financial performance."

1166-03 | Predictors For Acute Right Ventricular Failure Following TTVR With the EVOQUE Valve
9:30 - 9:37 a.m.
Posters, Hall E

Aidan Spradlin, BS, et al., found that baseline echocardiogram measures like right ventricle size, right atrium size and tricuspid regurgitation severity can help predict right ventricular failure in EVOQUE valve recipients, looking at 32 patients from the STS/ACC TVT Registry.

1163-07 | Real-World Gaps in Primary Prevention and Lipid Control Among Patients Presenting With Their First AMI: Insights From the NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry
9:54 - 10:01 a.m.
Moderated Poster Theater 04, Posters, Hall E

Approximately 70% of patients hospitalized with a first acute myocardial infarction (AMI) without prior history of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease "were not previously on a statin and use of combination [lipid-lowering therapy] was low," according to Mohammed Essa, MD, et al., who included 316,524 patients from ACC's Cath Pain - MI Registry.

1167-09 | Temporal Trends and Predictors of Access Site Crossover During PCI in Contemporary Practice: A Report From the NCDR CathPCI Registry
10:06 - 10:13 a.m.
Moderated Poster Theater 08, Posters, Hall E

Eli Reynolds, MD, MPH, et al., found consistent rates of access-site crossover in contemporary clinical practice and randomized trials. Of the 192,902 included procedures from ACC's CathPCI Registry where crossover events occurred, most were radial to femoral. The authors note higher rates among less experienced radial operators.

1167-11| Trends and Institutional Variation in High-Potency P2Y12 Inhibitors Prescription Among Patients With Chronic Coronary Syndrome Undergoing PCI - An Analysis From the NCDR CathPCI Registry
10:18 - 10:25 a.m.
Moderated Poster Theater 08, Posters, Hall E

Including 783,977 patients with chronic coronary syndrome undergoing PCI at 1,815 U.S. hospitals from ACC's CathPCI Registry, Ayman Fath, MB, ChB, et al., found about one-third of patients were prescribed high-potency P2Y12 inhibitors at discharge. However, there was considerable variability across sites.

Use NCDR Data to Explore Your Clinical Questions

As the largest cardiovascular data repository, NCDR's robust care report forms hold answers to complex questions. Leverage the data to test your hypotheses on:

  • Patient risk factors and outcomes
  • Procedure and treatment trends
  • Diversity, health equity and inclusion
  • Guideline adherence
  • Device, facility and provider characteristics
  • Quality of care
