MEXICO CITY (Sep 10, 2025) -

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the ACC Mexico Chapter will host the ACC Latin America 2025 conference on September 18-20 in Mexico City. The conference will bring together leading experts and cardiovascular clinicians from across Latin America to examine emerging trends and evidence-based strategies in prevention and management of patients with heart disease.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the world, including Latin America. Previously, rates of heart disease deaths were declining but in recent years have begun to rise in many regions. Recent data from South America has shown modifiable and behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, blood sugar and dietary risks are increasing trends of heart disease and mortality in the region.

“ACC Latin America is one of the most important regional academic events each year. It brings the most recent and important information about cardiovascular disease to the region, given by a very distinguished group of experts in the field,” said Xavier Escudero, MD, FACC, ACC Latin America 2025 co-chair. “The ACC provides the best of efforts to ‘transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health’ in Latin America.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest cardiovascular diagnostic methods and treatment strategies and engage in discussions with expert faculty on hot topics ranging from heart failure to prevention. Key plenary sessions will address issues facing cardiovascular clinicians today. Among the plenary sessions:

  • Acute Coronary Syndromes with Attention of Myocardial Infarction Code
  • Top 5 Takeaway Points from the Heart Failure Guideline: What You Need to Know
  • Women in Cardiology Workforce Leadership

Participants will come away with localized best practices for applying the latest science in daily clinical practice and have the opportunity to share new science from across the region as part of the abstract and case presentations. Three ACC Latin America Chapter teams, each made up of three Fellows-in-Training (FITs), will also compete in ACC FIT Jeopardy, where contestants are quizzed in a gameshow-like setting on a variety of topics, such as imaging, prevention and interventional cardiology. The winning team will compete at the ACC Annual Scientific Session (ACC.26) in New Orleans in March 2026.

For the first time at ACC Latin America, the ACC will also recognize individuals from throughout the region who have earned the distinguished Fellow of the ACC (FACC) designation. This prestigious credential recognizes a commitment to improving patient care and outcomes.

"ACC Latin America 2025 offers a platform for health care professionals and medical trainees from throughout the region, including the Americas and Caribbean, to come together, exchange insights and address the cardiovascular disease challenges facing Latin American communities,” said Juan Aranda, Jr., MD, FACC, co-chair of ACC Latin America 2025. “Our patients have distinct needs that call for shared expertise and innovative approaches. I am excited that ACC Latin America 2025 allows us to lead the way by advancing care through diverse clinical perspectives."
