More Details on Near-Patient Biosensor Technology
Wearable sensors and smartphones offer the potential to transform a clinic-based "diagnose and treat" to a community-enabled "predict and pre-empt" model of care. They can continuously measure relevant markers of CV disease such as physical activity, sleep, heart rate, blood pressure (BP), respiratory rate and single lead ECGs, and provide more objective metrics than symptoms. The clear promise of wearable sensor data needs to be transformed into clinical benefit.
