About the Section / Work Group

The ACPC Quality Working Group focuses on designing and implementing clinical tools and process/quality improvement projects aimed towards improving outcomes in pediatric and adult congenital disease and delivering high value care. The group currently comprises of ~25 pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists of diverse backgrounds and clinical expertise. The objectives of this group are to design clinical practice algorithms to reduce practice variations in outpatient management of congenital heart disease. This group plays a key role in advancing initiatives related to clinical practice of outpatient congenital heart disease within the ACC community.

Our work supports members, trainees and early career professionals to standardize their outpatient surveillance of congenital heart lesions. It provides the framework for guiding professionals providing care to these patients to collaborate within their institutions to reduce practice variation and improve resource utilization.

Our Workgroup Mission:

The ACPC Education Workgroup aims to enhance the knowledge of healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with congenital and pediatric heart disease through comprehensive educational initiatives. This group develops and implements high-impact educational projects that advance learning across the entire care team.

Our work supports members, trainees, early career professionals, and multidisciplinary teams by advancing clinical knowledge, curating innovative educational resources, and creating meaningful opportunities for professional growth in congenital and pediatric cardiology.

What We Do

Members of this group collaborate on initiatives such as:

  • Creating online educational content, including clinical cases, imaging examples, and webinars focused on innovation and emerging topics in congenital and pediatric heart disease.
  • Informing members about educational events, publications, and learning resources related to pediatric and adult congenital heart disease.
  • Planning and supporting an annual career development event in collaboration with the Society of Pediatric Cardiology Training Program Directors (SPCTPD).

Publication and Communications Work Group

The objective of the Publication and Communication Work Group is to provide editorial support and content development for the Congenital Heart Disease and Pediatric Cardiology Clinical Topic Collection.

Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Fellow-in-Training (FIT) Work Group (WG)

Mission

The mission of the ACHD FIT WG is to advocate for ACHD fellowship training and support ACHD FITs in their career path.

Objectives

The objectives of the ACHD FIT WG are:

  1. To provide a means for professional interaction, problem solving, and discussion of professional issues among ACHD fellows.
  2. To provide educational programs and support for the purpose of professional development.
  3. To provide improved access and education about the American College of Cardiology (ACC) activities, especially those of the ACC’s Adult Congenital and Pediatric Cardiology (ACPC) Council as well as the ACPC Section’s ACHD WG.
  4. To increase the opportunity for member participation in ACC and ACPC Section activities at the local, regional and national levels.
  5. To provide a readily accessible mechanism for ACHD FIT cooperation.
  6. To provide a network to rapidly gain member feedback on issues of concern to ACHD fellows.
  7. To provide an organized structure for turning feedback into working contributions to advance ACHD fellowship training and ACHD FIT wellbeing.
