The framework for the training of current and future generations in cardiovascular disease prevention is crucial. More interest and dedicated training in cardiovascular disease prevention can certainly enable us to lead the path to discovery and one day eliminate ASCVD.

Prerequisites: 1.PGY4: Graduate of an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited (Canadian) internal medicine residency three-year training program, who have other qualifications such as a PhD in Exercise Physiology, Advanced Training in Nutrition, Diabetology or Hypertension, Board-eligible in internal medicine by time of fellowship appointment.
2.PGY7: Graduate of an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited (Canadian) three-year cardiovascular disease training program, American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)-board certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in cardiology by completion of cardiology fellowship
Requirements of all applicants include:
• Must have taken and passed all three steps of USMLE exams (first attempt preferred). DO graduates must have taken and passed all three steps of COMLEX USA.
• Must be eligible for licensure (Physician in Training or Full License) by the Texas Medical Board
• Must be a Graduate of a U.S. or Canadian Medical School accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME), or a medical school outside the United States and Canada with a current valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
• Be of good professional character with at least three letters of recommendation attesting to your academic and personal qualifications
• Our program primarily sponsors J-1 visas. If you are a J1 visa holder, you must be eligible for one year of training at the beginning of the fellowship. H1B visa sponsorship will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
• Persons who are citizens of a T-5 five country [Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria] must be cleared through the Houston Methodist Department of Legal Services for export control purposes unless they are a U.S. green card holder or an Asylee.
