JACC in a Flash | Vutrisiran and Concomitant Therapy; Coronary Blood Flow and Later CAD in Women

Featured topics and Editors' Picks from all of ACC's JACC Journals.

Journal of the American College of Cardiology
Vutrisiran Benefit With Concomitant Therapy; New Progression Framework

Concomitant tafamidis or heart failure (HF) therapy did not modify vutrisiran's benefit on all-cause mortality and recurrent cardiovascular events in transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), according to a HELIOS-B analysis published in a JACC Focus Issue on Cardiac Amyloidosis.

JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging
Coronary Blood Flow May Explain Later CAD in Women

Women in the CENTURY trial had higher coronary blood flow (CBF) than men despite comparable cardiovascular risk, similar treatment response and half as many coronary events, offering a potential physiological explanation for the delayed clinical manifestation of coronary artery disease (CAD) in women, according to a post hoc analysis published in JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging.

JACC: Heart Failure
IL-6 Outperforms hs-CRP For HF Risk

The inflammatory biomarker interleukin (IL)-6 identified residual risk of incident heart failure (HF) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and overweight/obesity, particularly those without CV disease, according to a Look AHEAD ancillary study in JACC: Heart Failure. An intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI) targeting weight loss also reduced IL-6 over one year vs. diabetes support and education.

JACC: CardioOncology
Primer Highlights CV Risks of ADC Therapy in Breast Cancer

As antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) use expands in breast cancer, cardiovascular risk is increasingly important, particularly in curative settings. A primer in JACC: CardioOncology reviews mechanisms of cardiovascular injury, toxicities, risk factors, mitigation and research priorities.
