About the Section / Work Group

The Adult Congenital and Pediatric Cardiology (ACPC) Artificial Intelligence Work Group advances the understanding, development, and responsible implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to improve the care of patients with pediatric and adult congenital heart disease.

The work group serves as a collaborative forum for clinicians, researchers, educators, and innovators to explore AI applications across clinical care, education, and research. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, members work to accelerate innovation that enhances diagnosis, risk prediction, clinical decision-making, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.

The work group's goals are to:

  • Increase knowledge of AI and its current and future applications in pediatric and adult congenital cardiology.
  • Advance the development and implementation of AI technologies that support diagnosis, prognostication, disease understanding, clinical decision-making, and efficient delivery of care.
  • Foster multicenter collaboration and research to evaluate and implement innovative AI solutions for congenital heart disease.
  • Promote AI as an educational resource to enhance learning for clinicians, trainees, and patients.

What We Do

Members collaborate on initiatives that:

  • Develop educational programming and practical resources on AI in congenital cardiology.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI into clinical practice, quality improvement, and workflow optimization.

ACPC Quality Working Group

About the Section / Work Group

The ACPC Quality Working Group focuses on designing and implementing clinical tools and process/quality improvement projects to improve outcomes in pediatric and adult congenital disease and deliver high-value care. The group currently comprises ~25 pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists of diverse backgrounds and clinical expertise. The objectives of this group are to design clinical practice algorithms to reduce practice variations in outpatient management of congenital heart disease. This group plays a key role in advancing initiatives related to the clinical practice of outpatient care for congenital heart disease within the ACC community.

Our work supports members, trainees, and early career professionals to standardize their outpatient surveillance of congenital heart lesions. It provides the framework for guiding professionals providing care to these patients to collaborate within their institutions to reduce practice variation and improve resource utilization.

Members of this group collaborate on initiatives such as:

  • Creating online educational content, including clinical cases, imaging examples, and webinars focused on innovation and emerging topics in congenital and pediatric heart disease.
  • Informing members about educational events, publications, and learning resources related to pediatric and adult congenital heart disease.
  • Planning and supporting an annual career development event in collaboration with the Society of Pediatric Cardiology Training Program Directors (SPCTPD).

The Publication and Communication Work Group focuses on curating and disseminating diverse, up-to-date information on the latest advancements in pediatric and congenital heart disease, ensuring the ACC.org community remains at the forefront of knowledge and evidence-based practice in this specialized domain. This group plays a key role in advancing initiatives related to content development, editorial review, and communications within the ACC community.

Our work supports ACC members, the ACPC community, and the broader ACC.org audience by streamlining content solicitation and generation, engaging Clinical Topic Collection Editorial Teams as content advisors and reviewers, and broadening the range of ACC.org content authors through participation of ACC Member Sections.

What We Do

Members of this group collaborate on initiatives such as:

  1. Curating and publishing a consistent stream of approximately 12 articles annually, including formats such as "Images in Cardiology," "Expert Analysis," and "Year in Review"
  2. Establishing an efficient system to solicit monthly content contributions from experts in the field, ensuring timely publication and variety throughout the year
  3. Partnering with the ACC.org Clinical Topic Collection Editorial Teams as content advisors and reviewers to ensure accuracy, relevance, and quality
  4. Broadening the range of ACC.org content authors by engaging ACC Member Sections as primary content generators, and recruiting a diverse editorial team across genders, ethnicities, specialties, and career stages
