Already Enrolled in the CMP

The CMP promotes continuous learning through a focus on 20% of the field each year. Enrollees need to:

  • Score 70% or better on the practice questions for that year's topic(s).
    • Answer questions as many times as necessary to achieve a 70% score.
  • Monitor your progress within the CMP Hub.
  • Pass the yearly Performance Assessment.
    • Performance Assessments are available only after you have achieved a score of 70% or better on the practice questions.

Access Your CMP Hub

  1. Go to your relevant SAP product page ( ACCSAP, CathSAP, HF SAP, or EP SAP).
  2. Launch the SAP and log in.
  3. Click the dark blue CMP Hub tile to access your hub and assessment links.

Immediately After Enrolling

  1. Verify that you see the dark blue CMP Hub tile within the SAP. If you don't see the CMP Hub, please contact ACC at MemberCare@acc.org or 800-253-4636 x 5603.
  2. Take a Performance Readiness Check – do this ASAP! Don't waste time dealing with unforeseen technical issues during a Performance Assessment window. Take five minutes to complete the Performance Readiness Check before the performance window opens.
    • Set up 2-Factor Authentication to keep your account secure.
    • Make sure you can access the secure exam site.
    • See reminders about taking the Performance Assessment.

Performance Assessment

Take a Performance Assessment

  • 60 questions that are structured just like the Practice questions in the SAP.
  • Focused on only 20% of the ABIM blueprint each year.
  • Open book – use any resource except another person.
  • Timed – testing should be completed in one sitting.
    • ACCSAP & CathSAP: 2 hours
    • EP SAP: 3 hours
    • HF SAP: 2.5 hours*
      *A one-time adjustment has been made to the 2025 HF SAP CMP Performance Assessments, extending the time to 2.5 hours. This change applies ONLY to the 2025 assessment.
  • Online – take a performance assessment in your home or office.
    • Use a laptop or desktop computer with Chrome, Safari, or Edge internet browsers.
    • Do not use smaller devices, Internet Explorer, or Firefox.
  • Available for two weeks each year so you have two chances to pass – ONCE during each week of availability. Assessments are available 24/7 each week

Performance Assessments are available 24 hours a day during each window beginning at 1 a.m. ET until 11:59 p.m. ET on the last day.

During the Assessment

If you need immediate assistance while taking the exam, please contact ACC as follows:

  • Live chat will be available 6 a.m. to midnight ET.

ACC Staff will be able to adjust your timer if necessary/appropriate so you can finish the test.

After the Assessment

After completing a Performance Assessment, most participants receive immediate feedback about their pass/fail status.

  • Some participants will score within a range that requires additional analysis and will not learn their pass/fail status immediately. They will learn their pass/fail status via the Score Report.
  • The passing score will vary from year to year based on the relative difficulty of the questions on the test. Each year's passing score will be published in that year's Score Report.
  • Detailed Score Reports will be released two weeks after the Performance Assessment window closes.

Score Reports

  • Includes your score and the passing score
  • Provides recommended study content based on incorrect answers
  • To maintain question security, you won't be able to see the questions again or see exactly which questions you answered correctly or incorrectly.
  • ACC will email all participants when the score report is available within their CMP Hub.
  • An active SAP subscription is needed to access your score report. To ensure uninterrupted access to your SAP and the CMP, please keep your subscription current. Click here to renew.
