Sports cardiology experts from around the world convened at ACC's Care of the Athletic Heart course last month to provide contemporary care and practice management strategies needed to care for patient athletes.

Some ACC Fellow in Training (FIT) Section members were among the attendees and provided summaries of key sessions.

Michael Gavalas, MD, reviewed an approach to the athlete's ECG; Elizabeth Hill, DO, discussed how athletes are not immune to coronary disease; and Jeffrey J. Hsu, MD, PhD, highlighted the lack of evidence in literature to support decision-making in athletes who have known aortopathy or history of congenital heart disease.
