In a Fellows in Training and Early Career Section article published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Lauren A. Eberly, MD, MPH; Howard Julien, MD, MPH, FACC; and Srinath Adusumalli, MD, MSc, FACC, propose a new training paradigm that integrates antiracism practice throughout the cardiology fellowship training sections, including didactic curriculum, clinical training, research and workshops.

"Until we redesign our fellowship curriculum to prioritize equitable approaches to care delivery and workforce development," Eberly, Julien, and Adusumalli write, "we are complicit in perpetuating systems and structures of oppression that lead to inexcusable inequities in cardiovascular care and outcomes." In response to the article, Quinn Capers IV, MD, FACC, says, "Our profession and our patients will be better served if cardiologists are as proficient in treating channelopathies and complex left main coronary lesions as they were in identifying the racism that impacts the cardiovascular health of minority individuals."
