Professional Bio:
Dr. Alkhouli is an interventional cardiologist with focus on transcatheter structural heart disease interventions at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After graduating from medical school at Damascus University in Syria in 2007, Dr. Alkhouli joined Temple University in Philadelphia for internal medicine and cardiology training. He then completed advanced fellowships in coronary, vascular, and structural heart interventions at the University of Rochester, and Mayo Clinic. In 2016, he became the medical director of the structural heart program, and the associate director of the Cardiology fellowship at West Virginia University until he returned to Mayo Clinic in 2019. He is currently a professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, and a Research and Innovation Chair in the Division of Interventional Cardiology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Alkhouli is an author of over 300 peer reviewed articles and book chapters and serves on the editorial board of several leading cardiology journals. His clinical research interests include health care disparities, cardioembolic stroke prevention, intracardiac echocardiography, and valvular heart disease interventions.
