A tragic shooting at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on Jan. 20, took the life of Michael J. Davidson, MD, director of endovascular cardiac surgery.

“Dr. Davidson was a wonderful and inspiring cardiac surgeon who devoted his career to saving lives and improving the quality of life of every patient he cared for,” the hospital said in a statement. “It is truly devastating that his own life was taken in this horrible manner.”

“The members and staff of the ACC are shocked and profoundly saddened by the tragic shooting at Brigham and Women’s Hospital,” said ACC CEO Shalom Jacobovitz. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Davidson’s family, friends and colleagues.”
