ALONE-AF: When to Stop OAC After Successful Ablation, No Arrhythmia Recurrence

Discontinuing oral anticoagulant (OAC) therapy in patients with no documented atrial arrhythmia recurrence one year after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AFib) resulted in a lower risk for the composite of stroke, systemic embolism (SE) and major bleeding vs. continuing direct oral anticoagulant therapy (DOAC), based on results from the ALONE-AF trial presented at ESC Congress 2025 and simultaneously published in JAMA.

HI-PRO: Apixaban Lowers VTE Risk in Patients With Transient Provoking Factors

At one year, low-intensity apixaban therapy results in lower risk of symptomatic recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) vs. placebo in patients with provoked VTE and enduring risk factors. Furthermore, it carries a low risk of major bleeding, according to efficacy and safety results of the HI-PRO trial, presented during ESC Congress 2025 and simultaneously published in NEJM.

Essence-TIMI 73b: Olezarsen Significantly Lowers TG in Moderate HTG and Elevated CV Risk

Olezarsen significantly reduced triglyceride (TG) levels at six months vs. placebo in patients with moderate hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) and elevated cardiovascular risk, according to results of the Essence-TIMI 73b study presented during ESC Congress 2025 and simultaneously published in NEJM.

AQUATIC: Aspirin Plus OAC Results in Higher Risk of Major CV Events, Bleeding in CCS

Patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) and at high atherothrombotic risk who received aspirin in addition to their current oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy had a higher risk of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, systemic embolism, coronary revascularization or acute limb ischemia than those taking a placebo, according to results from the AQUATIC study presented at ESC Congress 2025 and simultaneously published in NEJM.
