Professional Bio:
Claire S. Duvernoy, MD is a Professor of Medicine currently practicing consultative cardiology after working as an interventional cardiologist for over 21 years at the University of Michigan. She served as chief of the Cardiology section at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Medical Center for over 10 years, and currently directs the regional VA Cardiology network. Dr. Duvernoy has served as the Deputy National Program Director for Cardiology for the Veterans Health Administration since October 2021, and will transition to National Program Executive Director in October 2022. Dr. Duvernoy founded the Women’s Heart Program at the University of Michigan and has an active clinical Cardiology practice at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Dr. Duvernoy served as Governor of the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Cardiology from 2011-2014 and chaired the Women in Cardiology Section for the ACC from 2016-2019. She served as an inaugural member of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force for the ACC. She has recently completed her term as a Trustee for the American College of Cardiology from 2019-2022. Dr. Duvernoy attended the University of Michigan Medical School and finished her internship and residency in internal medicine there. She completed a fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Michigan, and a research fellowship at the Technical University of Munich. She is married to Frank Bogun, a cardiac electrophysiologist, and recently became an empty nester; their daughter just completed her freshman year at Michigan State University, and their son just graduated from Kalamazoo College.
