Real strides have already been made in meeting the goals and priorities outlined by the ACC’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. Highlights include the development of robust diversity and inclusion principles; increased opportunities for recognition and celebration of individuals, Chapters and others making a difference in the profession and their communities; published research identifying and addressing barriers to under-represented communities; and increased opportunities to diversify and develop leaders, as well as grow a deep pipeline of new cardiovascular professionals to carry us into the future.

Deep Pipeline

  1. Established complimentary membership for medical students
  2. Implemented ACC Young Scholars Program for high school and college students

Diversifying and Developing Leadership

  1. Two new JACC Editors -in-Chief are women
  2. ACC hosted a two-day session on Clinical Trials Research

Integrating Diversity and Inclusion across the College

  1. More than two-thirds of ACC’s Committees, Sections and Chapters are undertaking diversity and  inclusion activities
