ACC President Comments on Government Shutdown

“The American College of Cardiology is relieved the shutdown and debt ceiling crisis is over for the time being, and we now wish for congress to focus on finding a permanent repeal of the sustainable growth rate (SGR). There is no room for pushing patients to the brink of facing significant Medicare cuts the way the shutdown and debt ceiling debate was treated. There is currently bipartisan support for a permanent SGR repeal and Congress should immediately build on that spirit of cooperation and work together to solve problems facing this nation.”
