American College of Cardiology Statement Regarding SGR Deal

Contact: Stephanie Abraham, sabraham@acc.org, 202-375-6296

“The Committee has worked tirelessly over the past year hashing out a bipartisan deal to repeal and replace the SGR and we congratulate them. We hope to build on this momentum and pass the proposed legislation as soon as possible. The Committees have ironed out a balanced deal that eliminates the SGR and enacts meaningful payment reforms that will improve the quality of care for all our patients. Specifically, we are very supportive of the inclusion of provisions that emphasize the importance of clinical data registries, quality measure development, and appropriate use criteria to promote evidence-based care.”

“We applaud the tremendous effort put forth by the committees, and we offer our support for the product. With all of this said, we caution that our final support rests upon the caveat that paying for this legislation must not cause harm to patients and the physicians who care for them.”
