ORLANDO (Mar 12, 2018) -

The Minnesota Chapter of the American College of Cardiology has won the “Fellows-in-Training Jeopardy Competition: Battle of the States” held during the ACC’s 67^th Annual Scientific Session in Orlando. FITs from the Virginia Chapter took second place.

Teams from 35 ACC state chapters and Canada participated in the competition, which featured nine 30-minute preliminary rounds. Teams answered questions from four Jeopardy categories that were based on the American Board of Internal Medicine Certification Examination Blueprint. Nine teams advanced to the semi-finals and two teams competed in yesterday’s final round. 

The Minnesota Chapter received a first-place trophy and plaque presented by ACC Board of Governors Chair B. Hadley Wilson, MD, FACC, and three $1,000 travel awards to send the FIT Jeopardy team to ACC.19 next year in New Orleans. Each team member from the Chapter received a free subscription to the ACC’s Adult Clinical Cardiology Self-Assessment Program.

The Minnesota Chapter team included: Vaibhav Vaidya, MBBS, Mayo Clinic; William Miranda, MD, Mayo Clinic; and Yogesh Reddy, MBBS, Mayo Clinic.

Each team member from the Virginia Chapter received a plaque presented by Wilson, and complimentary access to the ACC’s Heart Songs 4. The Virginia Chapter team included: Guru Kowlgi, MBBS, VCU Health; Cory Trankle, MD, VCU Health; and Mohammad Rajab, MD, VCU Health.
