ACC Honors Dr. Sergio Henrique Rodolpho Ramalho With William A. Zoghbi International Research Award
New award fosters innovative research to improve the care and outcomes of patients at risk of or living with cardiovascular disease in low- to middle-income countries

The American College of Cardiology has recognized Sergio Henrique Rodolpho Ramalho, MD, MSc, PhD, FACC, with the inaugural William A. Zoghbi International Research Award. Ramalho will be recognized during Convocation at ACC's Annual Scientific Session (ACC.24), taking place April 6-8, 2024 in Atlanta.
Established in 2023, this award is open to all cardiovascular investigators living in low- to middle-income countries and aims to provide a foundation for innovation in cardiovascular research. The recipient will receive $25,000 to put toward one year of research.
Ramalho’s research is titled “Artificial Intelligence in Electrocardiographic-based Triage Protocols: Impact on the Time to Diagnosis, Time to Treatment Initiation and on Clinical Outcomes.” The year of research will start on July 1, 2024, and runs through June 30, 2025.
