ACCF Seeks New Clinical Content Editor-in-Chief
The American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) is seeking a new Clinical Content Editor-in-Chief who will oversee and coordinate the majority of non-CME clinical content developed for and shared on ACC.org and other digital member channels. The editor-in-chief will be responsible for identifying the most timely and important news and updates from leading cardiovascular and scientific journals and meetings, FDA announcements and other relevant sources to be featured in Journal Scans, Clinical Trial Summaries, news features, expert commentary, and/or other content types and developed for and published on ACC.org and in other ACC member publications, as relevant. The editor-in-chief will also be responsible for reviewing all developed content for accuracy, as well as all external advertising for ACC.org and other ACCF print and digital member publications (i.e., email newsletters, Scientific Session Newspaper, Cardiology magazine). Title: ACCF Clinical Content Editor-in-Chief
Reports to: Lifelong Learning Oversight Committee (LLOC)
Term of Service: Five Years (with option to renew for one additional term)
Major Duties/Responsibilities
- Devote the necessary time and effort to perform duties in a high quality and timely fashion, estimated to be approximately forty (40) hours per month.
- Overarching responsibility for the quality, integrity and scientific accuracy of non-CME clinical content developed and shared on ACC.org and in other ACCF print and digital member publications, as appropriate, including external advertising.
- Responsible for reviewing all external advertising appearing on ACC.org, Cardiology magazine and the ACCF Scientific Session daily newspaper to ensure adherence to ACC's advertising policy.
- Serve as a non-voting member of ACCF's LLOC and review and report on the impact of the clinical content developed as requested as well as learn the gap and educational needs of members.
- Meet weekly with the ACCF staff team to review the latest published literature, late-breaking science being presented at scientific meetings, FDA announcements and other relevant sources to identify the hottest science to cover on ACC.org and relevant newsletters and publications in a timely and effective way.
- Meet annually with the ACCF staff team and other stakeholders to review content metrics and upcoming trends/hot topics.
- Serve as a spokesperson for media requests and/or video commentary during major scientific meetings, as needed.
- May work with additional content editors or member volunteers, including ACCF's CardioSmart editor, Cardiology magazine editors in chief, etc., as needed to anticipate major developments in cardiovascular disease and/or coordinate planning for clinical content.
Qualifications
- A current ACC member in good standing. MACC, FACC or AACC status preferred.
- Familiarity with ACCF activities and ACCF's Mission to improve heart health for all. Knowledge and experience working with ACC's Member Sections and/or Chapters is a plus.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of the field of cardiovascular medicine and its current trends and advances.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams of both ACCF staff and members to achieve shared goals.
- A thorough understanding of writing, editing and reviewing materials for web and print and the tasks involved in planning, coordinating and managing associated tasks.
- Familiarity with digital publishing and an understanding of best practices and latest trends.
- Strategic thinker with strong organization and communication skills, as well as a proven ability to lead a team and delegate tasks as need.
