ACC.21 Statement of Educational Need/Purpose
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death throughout the world. ACC.21 will focus on late-breaking science with interactive, innovative education to improve cardiovascular care. Now, more than ever, a global health perspective is critical for cardiovascular clinicians, and ACC.21 will reimagine global health in this ever-changing era. With live, in-person and virtual programming, ACC.21 will reach a global audience, providing access to the latest science and advances in CVD. ACC.21 will also provide perspectives from around the world to share best practices in cardiovascular care and facilitate incorporation of practical solutions for all members of the cardiovascular care team. At ACC.21, all members of the cardiovascular care team will receive essential education highlighting ongoing research to improve cardiovascular outcomes and address struggles with implementation of evidence-based guidelines.

Educational Program Goals

  • To provide a stimulating environment for sharing of new knowledge and presentation of research with a goal of improving cardiovascular disease management for all patients
  • To facilitate translation of cardiovascular science to all members of the care team leading to high-quality, patient-centered care
  • To allow for examination and discussion of important contributions and controversies in cardiovascular care
  • To promote cardiovascular science and education to a global audience
  • To identify and address inequities in health care
  • To promote the use of new technologies to improve the delivery of healthcare in a dynamic environment

Target Audience
This program is intended for all professionals involved in delivering cardiovascular care, with particular emphasis on physicians, scientists, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and practice administrators. Medical students and trainees, technicians, dietitians and other health care professionals will also benefit.

Credit is available for featured sessions and aligned credit types are noted (all sessions do not offer credit). For successful completion, view the presentations for which you wish to claim credit and complete the full evaluation prior to your access to ACC.21 ending.

The deadline to claim credit is December 31, 2021 at 5:00 pm ET.

Joint Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians
The ACCF designates this enduring material for a maximum of 167.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

MOC

ABIM Maintenance of Certification
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 167.5 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.

It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Once a Diplomat's data is submitted to the ACCME no modifications can be made to your overall credit claim. Participants can claim credit only once.

Please be aware that you will need to provide your accurate ABIM diplomate number and birth date (month/date/year, mm/dd/yyyy) on this form. Failure to do so will result in a significant delay in processing your MOC points claim. To lookup your ABIM ID, click here. ABP MOC
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 148.75 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.

The ACCF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 89.75 continuing nursing education contact hours. 22.50 pharmacotherapeutic nursing contact hours. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Assistants
The American College of Cardiology Foundation has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 166 AAPA Category 1 CME credits.

Pharmacists
ACCF designates this continuing education activity for 105.75 contact hours (105.75 CEUs) of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.

Please note: To receive eligible CPE credit, complete the overall meeting evaluation. Please select the pharmacist option from the Certificate list on the Credit Claim page. Once selected, you will be taken to a link to an online form for you to provide your NABP data. This form must be completed no later than 30 days upon your completion of the activity. Once a pharmacist or pharmacy technician's credits have been submitted to CPE Monitor® no modifications can be made to your overall credit claim. Participants can claim credit only once.

Approval is valid until December 31, 2021. Pharmacists should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

EBAC

European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) External CME Credit
The activity "ACC.21 - 70th Annual Scientific Session" is accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) for External CME credits. Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that have actually been spent in the educational activity. The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) have recognized each other's accreditation systems as substantially equivalent.

ACCF designates this continuing education activity for a maximum of 119 credits toward the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC).

Please note: VNR numbers are not available or required this year, participants will receive a certificate of credit as proof of participation in the certified activity.

IPCE

Interprofessional Continuing Education
This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive up to 38.25 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
