Shared Decision Making in the Electrophysiology World
This webinar will be covering the topic of shared decision making and what role it now plays in the world of electrophysiology.
In 2018, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Coverage Determination directed that patients considering implantation of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) for primary prevention of sudden cardiac death undergo a shared decision-making (SDM) conversation using a decision-aid. A formal encounter must occur between the patient and a physician (or qualified non-physician practitioner) using an evidence-based decision tool on ICDs before initial ICD implantation. During this webinar participants will learn methods for approaching shared decision-making and learn more about the ACC tools, including the EP Device Implant Registry and CardioSmart patient resources, available to support shared decision-making.
