Expanding Role of Coronary Artery Calcium Testing in Preventive Cardiology

Webinar Overview

Join us for this live and stimulating case-based discussion and learn how to better utilize coronary artery calcium (CAC) testing in preventive cardiology.

This webinar, presented by the ACC Cardiovascular Imaging and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease Sections, will discuss the clinical indications for CAC testing. Subsequently, we will present and discuss three different cases. The discussion will focus on how to use CAC testing in patient management decisions, including how to use data from CAC testing to decide on the role of different preventive therapies, and when is further testing needed (if ever) after a CAC test.

Key Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand how to interpret CAC test results, as well as how to integrate the results with other patient data and risk factors.
  2. Recognize how CAC test results can be used to enhance shared decision making, as well as how to select between different pharmacologic therapies used in prevention.
  3. Learn how to manage patients who have extensive amount of calcified coronary plaque.
  4. Learn about the implications and limitation of a CAC score of zero.
