On July 17, ACC kicked off the first of a series of live complex coronary cases from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY. The live cases will be streamed live from Mount Sinai’s catheterization lab at 8 a.m. ET on the third Tuesday of each month and can be found by visiting CardioSource.org.

"This series is a prime example of the many ways the College is working to take advantage of new digital technologies to reach cardiovascular professionals around the globe in ways that could never have been done before," said Mary Ellen Beliveau, ACC’s senior vice president for Lifelong Learning.

The cases will be operated by Samin K. Sharma, MD, FACC, director of the Cardiac Cath Lab and Intervention and co-director of the Cardiovascular Institute at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Annapoorna S. Kini, MD, FACC, director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, with Sameer K. Mehta, MD, FACC, voluntary associate professor of Medicine at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL, as the moderator. 

The first case focused on advanced interventional techniques used in complex cases. During each of the live cases, participants will learn how to discuss the rationale for choice of access site in performing percutaneous coronary intervention; detail considerations for stent selection; discuss choice of antiplatelet therapy; and demonstrate the application of large, randomized drug-eluting stent clinical trials results within an interventional clinical practice.

"The live case series offers a unique opportunity for cardiovascular professionals around the globe to watch and learn from experts on how to treat some of the most complex cases," said Spencer B. King III, MD, MACC, editor-in-chief of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, who is the first guest to help kick-off the series. "I hope the program will be beneficial for those who work in other cath labs around the world."
