The comments underscore the importance of balancing the intended benefits of the procedure against the radiation risk in order to ensure patient and clinician safety. The letter urges the EPA to engage physicians from other specialties, not just radiology, in the future to ensure that the guidance provides a balanced perspective. Currently, the ACC is working with a diverse group of organizations to develop Health Policy Statements on Radiation Safety for the Patient and Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Imaging.
