Advance Interoperability: Register for IHE Connectathon 2015

Registration is now open for the 2015 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) North America (NA) Connectathon, a unique event for testing software and hardware interoperability in key health care domains such as Cardiology, Anatomic Pathology, Patient Care Coordination, Patient Care Devices, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Radiology. The IHE NA Connectathon 2015 will take place Jan. 26 - 30, 2015, at the Cleveland Convention Center and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Innovation Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as DICOM and HL7 to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care providers to use information more effectively. IHE NA Connectathon attracts a large number of development engineers from all major computer systems companies and a wide variety of software vendors by providing a forum in which vendors assemble to demonstrate the interoperability of their products and exchange ideas and information without the distractions of marketing hype.

ACC’s Registry Content Submission - CathPCI V4.4 (RCS-C) supplement to the IHE Cardiology Technical Framework will be showcased through trial implementation during the 2015 Connectathon. The CathPCI Registry addition to the framework is a major step forward in the use of standard structures (HL7 CDA) and vocabularies (SNOMED, RxNorm, LOINC) that will enable data interoperability among various information systems thereby reducing the data capture burden on registry participating organizations.

IHE NA Connectathon is an excellent opportunity for vendors to verify that their distributed computing software interoperates with a wide range of client/server implementations on different operating systems. Everything from laptops to supercomputers can be linked together under one roof, encouraging interaction among vendors, engineers and developers in a confidential atmosphere. Implementations are tested and debugged at Connectathon. There are panel discussions as well as open sessions on the latest developments in technologies and solutions by Connectathon participants. Clients such as hospitals, health systems and laboratory service centers have the opportunity to observe the health care information technology (IT) solutions of tomorrow to make informed strategic decisions regarding infrastructure and contract investments.

Registration for the IHE NA Connectathon 2015 is now open from Aug. 25 – Oct. 3, 2014. Learn about participant resources including information on badge registration, travel and hotel accommodations. Health system, hospital, outpatient or laboratory services centers, and software or hardware vendors interested in learning more about the IHE Cardiology domain membership benefits, including a discount on IHE NA Connectathon registration, should email to arrange a presentation.
