Call For Applications: Associate Editor of CardioSmart.org

The ACC is now accepting applications for associate editor of CardioSmart.org. The new associate editor’s term will begin in July 2015 and continue for five years, with the possibility of re-appointment for an additional five-year term. The deadline for applications is April 30.

One of the College’s strategic priorities is to focus on the patient, and create and encourage patient-focused content for ACC members and their patients. The ACC’s primary vehicle for delivering this content to clinicians in this effort is through CardioSmart.org, the ACC’s patient portal.  The associate editor candidate will be responsible for directing editorial content development for the site, including the development of news and information.

Associate Editor Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of cardiovascular medicine
  • Member of the American College of Cardiology
  • Experienced clinician in all aspects of general cardiovascular and primary care
  • Understanding of how patients and consumers learn and apply medical information
  • Well-respected leader in the field of patient education
  • Excellent writing and copyediting skills (writing sample required)
  • Ability to translate complex medical concepts into lay terms
  • Ability to manage a team of writers, and meet deadlines for copy
  • Familiarity with Internet technology trends and ability to leverage the technical environment of the online world

  • The associate editor’s term is five years, with the possibility of re-appointment for an additional five-year term
