Twenty-two abstracts based on NCDR data will be presented during the ACC's Annual Scientific Session, ACC.15, in San Diego, CA, on March 14 – 16. The abstracts will feature data from five of the ACC’s hospital-based NCDR registries and the ACC’s outpatient PINNACLE Registry. Expanding on previous years, these abstracts highlight the role of NCDR registries in practice-changing clinical research.

A Late-Breaking Clinical Trial from the STS/ACC TVT Registry, “Outcomes of the Initial Experience with Commercial Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair in the United States,” by Paul Sorajja, MD, FACC, and colleagues will be presented on Sunday, March 15. Also from the TVT Registry, two poster presentations and an oral presentation on the impact of baseline left ventricular function and aortic valve gradient on outcomes in transcatheter aortic valve replacement patients will be presented.

From the ACTION Registry-GWTG, three posters and an oral presentation on the socioeconomic disparities and quality of in-hospital care after myocardial infarction will be presented. A second oral presentation employing ACTION Registry-GWTG data will look at revascularization trends in patients with diabetes mellitus and multivessel coronary artery disease presenting with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction.

An analysis from the TOP PCI Study and CathPCI Registry on the impact of institutional review of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) appropriateness on quality of care and outcomes will be presented as a moderated poster on Sunday. Also from the CathPCI Registry, research on temporal trends in care and outcomes of patients with cardiogenic shock undergoing PCI; utilization of mechanical circulatory support in patients undergoing PCI; and temporal trends in admission status and predicted mortality among patients undergoing non-acute PCI will be presented.

ICD Registry data will be showcased in three poster presentations. This research will look at temporal trends and factors associated with single versus dual coil implantable cardioverter-defibrillator leads; comparative effectiveness of cardiac resynchronization therapy in heart failure patients with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease; and use of remote monitoring of implantable defibrillators relative to the introduction of billing codes.

An oral presentation and moderated poster based on data from the IMPACT Registry will be presented, looking at the influence of deficient retro-aortic rim on technical success and early adverse events following device closure of secundum atrial septal defects and procedural success and complications in pulmonary artery stenting respectively.

From the PINNACLE Registry, three posters have been accepted for presentation, highlighting the NCDR’s outpatient registry data. Research topics include the relationship between provider experience and cardiac performance measure compliance in outpatients; assessing the validity of physician quality reporting; and factors associated with use of newer antiplatelet agents in patients undergoing drug eluting stent placement.
