ACC has begun submitting appropriations requests for increases in cardiovascular disease research and prevention funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These requests align with the American Heart Association, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and Pediatric Congenital Heart Association recommendations for heart and stroke programs, tobacco cessation and prevention and congenital heart disease research. These programs have long been championed by the National Coalition for Heart and Stroke Research and those most closely aligned with ACC's mission. To further advance the College's Diversity and Inclusion initiative, ACC is including new requests this year for programmatic funding and report language supporting the Health Resources and Services Administration Title VII and Title VIII programs which play an important role in improving the diversity of the health care workforce.
