ACC.20/WCC Update From ACC President Richard J. Kovacs

As we continue to put the finishing touches on the ACC.20/WCC Virtual, the ACC is also very aware of the gravity of the COVID-19 situation and its many impacts on the entire health care community. ACC staff and leaders have been working hard to provide clinical guidance and perspectives on the management and treatment of cardiovascular patients, as well as maintaining clinician safety and well-being.
For this reason, while we hope many of you will join us "live" on March 28-30, we also know this might not be possible. During this time of change and uncertainty, one of the benefits of ACC.20/WCC Virtual is that you can access late-breaking science, catch up on education and share in ongoing conversations at times that work for you. All ACC.20/WCC Virtual content will be available for 90 days after the meeting.
Even in the middle of this global health care crisis, we must press forward with new science for the sake of our profession and the good of our patients. It is also right to give our Fellows in Training and Early Career members who have worked hard to prepare their abstracts a chance to participate on a global stage. Last but certainly not least, we'd be remiss not to recognize the new Fellows and Associates who are joining the ACC Family at one of the most challenging times in recent history – and at a time when we need them the most.
There is no perfect solution, but our hope is to deliver the science, the education and the much-deserved recognition expected from an ACC Annual Scientific Session in the best way possible given the "new normal" we're currently experiencing. One of the best ways to weather tough times is to connect with others who share similar challenges – if nothing else, ACC.20/WCC Virtual is an opportunity for us to connect as a community and reinforce the fact that none of us are in this alone.
Stay safe and be well,
Richard J. Kovacs, MD, FACC
