Eagle’s Eye View: Your Weekly CV Update from ACC.org (ACC 2022 Preview)

In this View episode, guest host Deepak Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, offers a preview of some of the hottest trials at the ACC 2022 Conference being held April 2-4, including SODIUM-HF, a study of using salt as a dietary intervention to reduce sodium in patients with heart failure, the CHAP Trials on antihypertensive therapy for mild chronic hypertension in pregnancy outcomes, a secondary analysis from the SCORED Trial on sotaglaflozin and the reduction in MACE, an analysis on how bentriacimabb immediately and sufficiently reversed the antiplatelet effects of ticagrelor in older people, two secondary analyses of the COMPLETE and FAME-3 Trials, looking at measuring quality of life after revascularization, and data on the EXPLORER-LTE cohort of the MAVA-LTE trial on mavacamten and obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Later in the conference, trials include PACIIC AF, a Phase 2 Trial comparing the safety of the oral FXIa inhibitor Asundexian with Apixaban in patients with atrial fibrillation, the PARTITA Trial examining catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia after the first implantable cardioverter shock, data from SURTAVI, a five-year follow-up on hemodynamic valve deterioration, the FLAVOUR trial examining FFR vs intravascular ultrasound-guided PCI In intermediate coronary artery stenosis, and three-year data from the SPYRAL Study on the long-term effect of renal denervation on blood pressure reduction In patients on antihypertension medications:. Finally, on the third day of the conference, we will see more data on the FIDELITY Analyses on Finerenone and cardiorenal outcomes in Patients With Type 2 diabetes, a secondary analysis of the CANTOS Trial looking at the differential impact of residual Inflammatory risk and residual cholesterol risk among atherosclerosis patients with and without chronic kidney disease, and data from the EMPULSE Trial looking at the effects of empagliflozin on symptoms, physical limitations and quality of life in patients hospitalized for acute heart failure. ACC 2022 promises to be a rich and rewarding experience, in person and virtually.
