NJDOH to Use NCDR CathPCI Registry For State Reporting Requirement

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) has entered into an agreement with the ACC to use the NCDR CathPCI Registry and eReport as the official mechanism for hospitals to meet a state legislative reporting requirement that was updated in 2021.

The agreement will effectively sunset the state's stand-alone PCI reporting program, and an anticipated 52 PCI programs in New Jersey will now be required to participate in the CathPCI Registry to meet the state mandate.

The Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel (CHAP) played a key role in advancing this initiative. CHAP is an appointed panel of cardiac care professionals whose charge is to recommend public policy changes to the state Health Commissioner based on advances in cardiac technology, data collection, and research. Former ACC New Jersey Chapter Governor and Flemington Mayor Ken Kutscher, MD, FACC, is a longstanding member of CHAP and has hosted PCI roundtables throughout the state for many years.

This agreement poses an opportunity for New Jersey PCI facilities to improve quality and cardiac outcomes using the data-driven insights provided through participation in NCDR.
