ACC.14 Comes to Life in Washington, DC

This blog post was authored by Shalom Jacobovitz, chief executive officer of the ACC

While this is the first meeting that I have attended as ACC’s chief executive officer, this is the 19th time I have attended an ACC annual scientific session – and the awe-factor goes skyward each year. ACC.14 has thus far been an incredible meeting and showcases the ACC’s incomparable strength in delivering innovative, purposeful education and meeting the needs of members and CV professionals from across the globe with Maintenance of Certification and Continuing Education requirements. Along with our partners, ACC.14 has leveraged the strengths of a collective, global group to move cardiovascular research and education forward.

This year’s attendance is stellar, and it would seem that the winter weather and rain Washington, DC, has seen into the first week of spring did not deter those hungry for knowledge and eager to connect with colleagues. For those coming for the science, ACC.14 has not disappointed. The late breaking clinical trials to date have been fascinating, and we are still in for another day of hot topics and education to come.

One of the hallmarks of ACC’s meeting is that we are sure to include something for everyone. ACC.14 has opportunities for attendees to find their niche and dive deep. Sessions have been carefully developed to include topics of interests for members across the care team spectrum, and in a wide-range of career stages – particularly for the early career members and Fellows-in-Training who are just beginning to chart their course in cardiovascular medicine.

Planning for each annual scientific session begins more than a year ahead of the kick-off, with a collaborative effort from dedicated ACC staff and volunteer member leaders from across the cardiovascular care team. Watching the event come to life is a thrill, and I am incredibly proud of – and thankful for – all of those who have invested time and energy into making this meeting a great one. I look forward to what the rest of ACC.14 will bring and look forward to continuing to connect with attendees.
