Professional Bio:
Dr. Saurabh Gupta received his medical degree from the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College of the University of Delhi before completing a residency in Internal Medicine at the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center of the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University in New York, where he was also invited to be the Chief Resident. He completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, UT. Following fellowship training, Dr. Gupta was recruited as faculty at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Portland OR where he is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine. He assumed leadership of interventional cardiology as section chief and director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories in 2009 in addition to being the program director for the Interventional Cardiology fellowship. He was instrumental in establishing and leading the transcatheter heart valve program at the Knight Cardiovascular Institute at OHSU. He is a thought-leader and highly experienced clinician with expertise in design and conduct of clinical trials, new product development including first-in-man (FIM) and clinical skills that include high-risk PCI, structural heart disease interventions (transcatheter valve therapies- TAVR, MitraClip, LAA closure etc). He has served as principal investigator on several ongoing clinical trials including being the global PI for an innovative bare metal stent that recently received FDA approval. He also serves on the national steering committee of CATH-PCI National Cardiovascular Database Registry of the American College of Cardiology. He is a highly sought proctor & teacher for transcatheter valve procedures around the world. He has been a consultant to several small and large companies and mentors several early healthcare start-ups in various capacities. In 2017 Dr. Gupta accepted a nomination from the Governor of Oregon to serve on the Oregon Medical Board.
