Professional Bio:

Dr. Bhatia is an Interventional Cardiologist specializing in Structural Heart Interventions as well as Coronary and Peripheral Vascular Interventions, practising at Heart South Cardiovascular Group, PC and Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He completed his Cardiovascular Medicine, Cardio-Oncology and Advanced Interventional Cardiology fellowships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN where he received training in complex coronary, peripheral and structural heart interventions such as TAVR(Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement), Watchman/Amulet (LAA closure), MitraClip, Peri-valvular leak closure and ASD/PFO closure. He has published more than 35 manuscripts, presented more than 50 abstracts at national/international meetings, authored multiple book chapters, received various awards and served as invited peer reviewer for numerous cardiovascular medicine journals. His research involves studying clinical outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease, especially when this is a result of malignancies (Cardio-Oncology), and Structural Heart Disease. He is one of the first and only few physicians to have received formal fellowship training in Cardio-Oncology along with Advanced Interventional Cardiology. His research has been widely cited in prominent international publications.
