Journal Scan | Morning Versus Evening Aerobic Training Effects on BP in Treated HTN

The hypotensive effect of aerobic training, due largely to an autonomic-modulated reduction in systemic vascular resistance, is well-established and appears to be additive to antihypertensive medications in hypertensive people. Multiple factors that enhance (e.g., weight loss) or diminish (e.g., genetics) this effect have been identified; however, it is unclear if time of day for aerobic training impacts its hypotensive effects.
