Seminars/Webinars
The ACC Medical Student Leadership Group Seminars Committee develops educational programming that connects medical students with leaders in cardiovascular medicine. Through webinars, journal clubs, panel discussions, and interactive educational sessions, the committee creates opportunities for students to explore various disciplines in cardiology, engage with current research, strengthen clinical knowledge, and build mentorship connections within the ACC community.
The Seminars Committee serves as a central platform for student-centered cardiovascular education. Our programming is designed to be accessible and engaging for medical students at all levels of training, whether they are beginning to explore cardiology or already actively involved in cardiovascular research, advocacy, and leadership.
Get Involved!
All medical students are welcome to participate in our events as attendees, organizers, or presenters. We are always looking for student presenters and would love to network with faculty from your institution to have them share their expertise with our medical students. We are certainly open to hearing about your interests as well! We would love to hear if you have specific session topics or areas of interest that you would like sessions geared toward.

The Seminars Committee organizes and supports a range of educational initiatives, including:
Webinars and Educational Seminars
Our webinars feature cardiologists, fellows-in-training, residents, researchers, surgeons, and other experts who speak on important topics in cardiovascular medicine. These sessions are designed to introduce students to foundational concepts, emerging technologies, subspecialty pathways, and real-world career perspectives.
Previous educational seminars have included topics such as:
- ECG interpretation
- Hemodynamics basics
- 3D printing in adult congenital heart disease
- Pediatric and congenital heart surgery
- Interventional cardiology
- The future of interventional cardiology
These sessions give students the opportunity to learn directly from experts in the field while asking questions in an open, student-friendly environment.
ACC Medical Student Journal Club
The Seminars Committee also helps support the ACC Medical Student Journal Club, an interactive forum that brings together medical students and distinguished principal investigators, cardiologists, fellows-in-training, and mentors from across the cardiovascular community.
The Journal Club provides an exceptional extracurricular learning opportunity for students interested in evidence-based cardiovascular medicine. Each series centers around a pre-selected clinical trial or major study that highlights important developments in contemporary cardiovascular care.
The primary goal of the Journal Club is to create an environment for thoughtful discussion of cardiovascular research with input from those who have direct expertise in the field. Students have the opportunity to present articles, participate in guided discussions, strengthen their understanding of clinical research methodology, and learn how landmark studies shape clinical practice.
By promoting academic discussion and open dialogue, the Journal Club aims to stimulate critical thinking, inspire future research, and help medical students develop as the next generation of cardiovascular leaders.
Recent Journal Club series have included:
- 2025: DANGER-SHOCK Trial sessions
- 2024: MASALA Registry study sessions
Through these sessions, students were able to present research, engage with cardiovascular experts, and participate in discussions about major studies influencing the field.
