The ACC provided full coverage of the hottest trials from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) meeting in Amsterdam in September. New this year, the ACC also partnered with ESC on two joint sessions that focused on controversies in atrial fibrillation and individualizing treatment. Also at the meeting, ACC Past-President Douglas Zipes, MD, MACC, was presented with an ESC Gold Medal for his contributions to cardiovascular medicine. “ESC brought the cardiovascular world together and on an ACC front, we have made clear plans working with ESC, the American Heart Association, International societies and our International Chapters, to build on the relationships fostered in Amsterdam to make real progress in the areas of science, education and advocacy,” said ACC President John Gordon Harold, MD, MACC.
