The ACC has joined the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and American College of Surgeons in calling for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement an optional delayed start date of Jan. 1, 2019 for participation in the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) Advanced alternative payment model.

The request follows delays in CMS providing cost and quality data to applicants considering joining the model. The letter asks that in addition to the optional delayed date, CMS still allow participants to start in the model on the original start date of Oct. 1, 2018, if preferred.
