Today was more driving, but we finally made it to Spiti Valley. We drove 5 km away from the border with Tibet/China and through the permitted area.
We encountered plenty of one-lane, unpaved roads and lots of construction along the way. Nonetheless, we finally made it to Nako and found ourselves in a Himalayan paradise surrounded on all sides by mountains and we just soaked it all in. I had what my mentor, Mark Reisman, MD, FACC, likes to call a “staring out the window moment,” where the world around you just melts away and you immerse yourself in the scenery.
My original intent was to be staring out of an airplane window; however, I was blessed to have this kind of moment today over a bowl of piping hot soup spent watching a Himalayan sunset.
Needless to say, the views were incredible — I’ll let the photos below speak for themselves.
