Poll: Use of IVUS for Guidance in Coronary Stent Implantation

The recently published ULTIMATE (A Multicenter, Prospective, Randomized Trial Comparing Intravascular Ultrasound-Guided Versus Angiography-Guided Implantation of Drug-Eluting Stent in All-Comers)1 is a multicenter randomized trial that showed lower target lesion failure (composite endpoint of cardiac death, target vessel myocardial infarction, and clinically driven target vessel revascularization) in an intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) group compared with angiography only in patients undergoing second-generation drug-eluting stent implantation.
