In light of the CARES Act Provider Relief Funds that are being administered through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced it is reevaluating its Accelerated Payment Program and is suspending the Advance Payment Program to Part B suppliers.

CMS expanded both temporary loan programs in late March to ensure providers and suppliers had the resources needed to combat the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, CMS has paid more than $100 billion to health care providers and suppliers through these programs.

However, with the new HHS provider relief funding, CMS notes it "will not be accepting any new applications for the Advance Payment Program," effective immediately, and "will be reevaluating all pending and new applications for Accelerated Payments."
